our preparation. At this stage, all the parishes of the
collaboration will host their own services/events, with
a joining together at a closing mass in Christ the King
Church, Cappagh Parish, on Wednesday 23rd October at 8pm.
The theme of this part of preparation focusses on the Liturgy

Stage III Closing Mass – Wed 23rd November
2011
On Wednesday 23rd November the seven local parishes of,
Drumragh, Cappagh, Drumquin, Ardstraw West, Gortin, Newtownstewart,
and Greencastle, gathered together in Christ The King Church
to concelebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Since August
2010 we have journeyed together in our preparations for
the International Eucharistic Congress, helping each other
to highlight the importance of The Eucharist in our lives.
Seven International Eucharistic Candles, representing the
seven parishes, were carried in procession and placed around
the Baptismal Font, bringing the light of faith from each
parish to unite as God’s Family.
The Guest Homilist was Fr Silvester O’Flynn
OFM, a Capuchin Monk based in Ards Friary, Creeslough.
Fr Silvester is an internationally recognised preacher,
retreat master and scripture scholar. His homily on the
Our Father, (which can be viewed on the link below *), gave
us a new and deeper insight into the prayer which Jesus
himself gave to us.
The aim of the International Eucharistic Congress is to
promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist
in our lives, helping us to understand and to participate
in it more fully – not just for ourselves, but for
the benefit of our whole community. Tonight we gathered
to celebrate, to adore, to give and to receive, and to leave,
bringing Christ with us – to live the Eucharist, which
is, ‘the source and summit of our lives’. CCC1324
We wish to thank the two Deacons from the diocese, Brendan
Collins, native of Drumragh, and Patrick
Lagan, native of Maghera, who joined us for
this celebration
